The Summer Dinner Party

The Summer Dinner Party

Since getting married, I had yet had the perfect excuse to use all my new entertaining pieces for the table. Considering the fact that my house is generally filled with men, they do not appreciate the finer things in life, such as a salad form and crystal glasses.

That being said, it was long overdue that I got together with my college roommates, so the idea of a fresh summer dinner came to be. The diner itself was immensely simple, but the idea of sitting around a table that is set and using different plates and utensils for different course was just incredibly appealing to me.

At the end of the day, you don’t have to wait until you register for your wedding, anyone can set a table and make it unique and picture perfect. All you need are dishes, silverware and little bit of creativity.

For this table setting, I just used my everyday dishes from Pottery Barn instead of my actual china (yes, I am old fashioned and registered for TWO types of china). By using the plates you use everyday, it can give the table a more casual feel, that way your guests aren’t completely overwhelmed and stress about chipping a plate as they set down their White Claw. You can also keep the table casual by using a simple and fun place mat and just picking up some heavy duty disposable napkins (who has time to iron fabric napkins anyways??).

At the end of the day, the item that was the highlight was of course the center pieces. The opportunities are absolutely endless when it comes to what to put in the center of your table. You can create professional looking arrangments by pickingup flowers from your grocery store, finding some jars or vases at just about anywhere (Hobby Lobby is one of my personal favorites) and then letting your inner florist create something fun and bright!

Picture, I just picked up 3 geometric vases from Hobby Lobby, and then the flowers plants used were silver dollar and eucalyptus for the greenery, baby’s breath for some filler and of course the beautiful blue hyfrangeas as the “main attraction”. In the future I will actually write post on assembling the perfect arrangement, so keep your eyes peeled!

At the end of the day, anyone can set a table that they feel proud of, the end goal to this anyways is to create a space for people to sit around and create memories.

8 place settings, but no limit on the memories this table will create!
